The service we got at Kaiser was nothing but amazing.
Super sweet nurses kept coming and going.
Food personnel called the room to make me choose from a wide menu.
We got doctors visits and even my own OB GYN came by to say congrats.
She said that she was actually working delivery the night we came in and she had seen my name on the board. She had been performing surgery though. But when she "heard the song play, she knew I had delivered". We were puzzled. What song? She told us the hospital plays a song over all the facilities every time a child is born. You can hear it everywhere except for the delivery rooms!
It's a girl! I said to her.
-Yes, I know.
Ha, I felt silly. Of course she knew. She has known for 9 months and kept it a secret from us. Hearing us calling the baby "him" all this time must have been funny for her!
After a few days at "The Hilton" it was time to take Ella with us home.
What a big thing, and what a strange thing to come home to your house with this little person.
Everything at home was just like we left it when we were timing the contractions. And it felt weird and a little nostalgic that "pregnancy was over". Hormones of course, but tears fell from my eyes and I have kept everything from the piece of paper with the contraction times on it, to the Hawaiian songs we played during labor.

En sån liten guldklimp!
